\nRay Dalio<\/strong>, who grew up a very ordinary middle-class kid from Long Island,
\nstarted the investment company Bridgewater Associates out of his two-bedroom
\napartment when he was 26 years old, and built it over the next 42
\nyears into what Fortune magazine assessed to be the fifth most important
\nprivate company in the U.S. He did that by creating a unique culture\u2014an idea
\nmeritocracy based on radical truth, radical transparency, and believability weighted
\ndecision making\u2014that he believes most people and organizations
\ncan use to better achieve their own goals.
\nAlong the way, Dalio became one of the 100 most influential (according
\nto Time) and 100 wealthiest (according to Forbes) people in the world, and
\nbecause his unique investment principles changed the industry, CIO
\nmagazine called him \u201cthe Steve Jobs of investing.\u201d (Those principles will be
\nconveyed in his next book, Economic and Investment Principles.) He
\nbelieves that his success isn\u2019t due to anything special about him\u2014it is the
\nresult of principles he learned, largely by making mistakes, from which he
\nalso believes most people can benefit.
\nAt 68 years old, Dalio\u2019s primary objective is to pass along these principles
