- SEKEM; In 1977, Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish started the SEKEM Initiative on an untouched part of the Egyptian desert (70 hectares) 60 km northeast of Cairo. Using Biodynamic agricultural methods, desert land was revitalized and a striving agricultural business developed. Over the years, SEKEM became the umbrella of a multifaceted agro-industrial group of companies and NGOs. Today, SEKEM is regarded as a leading social business worldwide.
- Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development was established under the umbrella of SEKEM in 2009 with the aim to pioneer the introduction of the concepts and principles of sustainable development to the students and the Egyptian community to improve well-being by decreasing threats to the Earth’s systems through industrialization and consumption. Heliopolis University strives for conscious Sustainable Development, economic solidarity, social responsibility, and environmental balance in Egypt and the world.
INTEGRATIVE HEALTHCARE
- The Chopra Foundation – The mission of the Chopra Foundation is to advance the cause of mind/body spiritual healing, education, and research through fundraising for selected projects.
- The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) is the US Federal Government’s lead agency for scientific research on the diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not generally considered part of conventional medicine.
- The Ministry of AYUSH (India) was formed on 9th November 2014 to ensure the optimal development and propagation of AYUSH systems of health care – Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.
- The Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine (The University of Arizona) is internationally recognized for its innovative educational programs, evidence-based clinical practice, and research that substantiates the field of integrative medicine and influences public policy.
- The Osher Center for Integrative Medicine is a collaboration between Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. It is focused on enhancing human health, resilience and quality of life through translational research, clinical practice and education in integrative medicine.
- The Stanford Center for Integrative Medicine (SCIM) combines the best of mental (meditation, hypnosis), nutritional, acupuncture, and lifestyle treatments with mainstream modern medicine and psychotherapy to provide care for the whole person: mind and body.
